Programme of events in 2010
The Royal Historical Society of Queensland is well-known for its
Welsby Library, Museum, conferences, lectures and special occasions such as Queensland
Day 6 June and Proclamation Day 10 December.
Our headquarters, the Commissariat Store at 115 William Street, Brisbane is open from
10 am to 4 pm Tuesdays to Fridays. On Thursdays we open from 10 am to 4 pm and Hon
Research Officers are available to assist researchers, and at other times by arrangement.
There are monthly Wednesday lunchtime lectures.
We also hold conferences, social functions and special lectures from time to time,
and these activities are advertised in the Bulletin and on the RHSQ's Activities web pages.
Instead of Thursday night lectures the Society has introducing the
RHSQ at Home. The first
was on Saturday 14 August from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm. There was a morning and afternoon
lecture and guided tours of the building and the Commissariat Store Museum throughout
the day. The day was a great success with over 80 people attending and the two
papers were well received. Some people came for either the morning or afternoon
paper and others stayed all day.
The next RHSQ at Home is on Saturday 20 November, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.
There is limited free parking behind the
Commissariat Store entry from Queens Wharf Road, and there is
a CityCat stop nearby.
A recent special event was the QSA 50th anniversary celebration at the Commissariat Store
19 November 2009. To read Janet Prowse's address click
