Fellowships
According to RHSQ Rule 3 (2005)
(b) Fellowships
(i) A Fellowship shall only be awarded for conspicuous scholarly service to the Society of a member of not less that ten years standing;
(ii) A nomination shall be by not less than six members of the Society;
(iii) Not more than three Fellows shall be appointed in any one calendar year;
(iv) On being duly elected a Diploma of Fellowship, signed by the President and the Honorary Secretary, shall be presented to the Fellow, who may thereafter be designated “Fellow of the Royal Historical Society of Queensland” (FR Hist SQ)

Honourary Life membership
According to RHSQ Rule 1(c) (2005)
On the nomination of not less than six members of the Society, the Council may recommend and a general meeting may approve the election as an Honorary Life Member of any member who has rendered long or outstanding service to the Society. Such Honorary Life Member shall have all the privileges of membership and may hold office if duly elected but shall not be required to pay any subscription.
