Royal Historical Society of Queensland
Queensland's peak history body
History Week
The Royal Historical Society of Queensland took the initiative of holding the inaugural
Queensland
History Week from 30 May to 6 June 2008 to promote the study and appreciation of history in the Queensland community, particularly in the lead up to the sesquicentenary (Q150) celebrations in 2009.
Queensland is
a large, diverse state with a rich historical past, in which local
societies can celebrate a variety of events. RHSQ looks forward
to all historical societies across Queensland joining in the
celebration of History Week 2011 in their own locality with
their own programmes.
History Week 2011 will commence on Saturday 4 June with the annual conference
The search for Burke and Wills at the State Library of Queensland.
A feature of the 2011 History Week annual will be the RHSQ Queensland Day Dinner
and the awarding of the prestigious
John Douglas Kerr Medal of Distinction for research and writing of
Queensland history, Monday 6 June 2011, Queensland Day, at the Queensland Club.
