Publications

Since 1915 the Royal Historical Society of Queensland Journal has been the leading avenue for regular publication of articles on Queensland history. It is published every three months and it produces readable and interesting articles with high standards of research and referencing.

In November 2008 the name of the RHSQ Journal changed to Queensland History Journal. The appearance of the Journal also changed with the introduction of a new glossy cover featuring the Queensland flag with the Maltese cross and some historical photographs.

On Thursdays you can visit the Commissariat Store to peruse Journals or you can buy back issues that will help you with your research.

Copies of the Journal are available for many issues ($6 for pre August 2011 issues, $10 for post August 2011 issues, $10 for annual issues but $12 for the 1959 Centenary issue) and, for $5 you may obtain the contents listing on disc or download it from this web page.

The monthly Bulletin is published from February to December. It brings news and notices of events of historical interest throughout Queensland. Many members, by request, receive their Bulletin by email.

Members receive both Journal and Bulletin as part of their subscription. We have other occasional publications such as Gamblers' Paradise (history of gambling), and Griffith, the law and the Australian Constitution and The world's first Labor Government each for $2 plus $3 for postage and packing. We also have Flinders in Moreton Bay and Convicts at Moreton Bay 1824 - 1859 each for $5 plus postage, Annals of Annerley $10 plus postage.

Recently published Brisbane's historic North Bank 1825-2005 by Ian Hadwen, Janet Hogan and Carolyn Nolan uses illustrations to tell the story of the William Street precinct. Almost all of the illustrations are from the Society's photographic collection and many you will not have previously seen. This exciting new book costs $25.00 if bought at the Commissariat Store or mailed to you for an extra $4.00 for postage and handling.

Contact us by emailing info@queenslandhistory.org.au if you would like an up-to-date publication list.

Check out the wonderful illustrated flyer with information about RHSQ publications for sale and another with a few of our members publications sold by the Society.
